SGS Conference Grant

The SGS Conference Grant assists registered, full-time doctoral-stream students in good standing to present their research at a conference or equivalent academic event. Preference will be given to students early in their career who are presenting their research for the first time. The grant will cover all or much of the student registration fee and a fixed amount based on conference location. This grant is not intended to replace other sources of funding (e.g. student, supervisor or department/Faculty contributions) but will enable students with limited funding to attend a conference that might otherwise not be possible without additional support.  Applications are available in the fall and winter sessions.

Master's Tuition Fee Bursary

The Master's Tuition Fee Bursary is intended for master's students who are beyond the minimum period of registration required for their degree, but still have a small amount of work outstanding, due to reasons and factors that are unanticipated and beyond their control.

Doctoral Completion Award

The DCA is intended to support full-time PhD students who are beyond the funded cohort, no longer receiving normal funding, and within the time-limit for their degree (6 years for PhD; 7 years for direct-entry PhD).  The students must be in good academic standing including having achieved candidacy and having satisfactory supervisory committee reports.

SGS Emergency Grant

The Program is intended to assist currently registered, full-time, graduate students beyond their first year of studies who generally are not part of the funded cohort, and who encounter an unanticipated serious financial emergency. It is not considered to be a source of routine or long-term funding.

SGS Emergency Loan

This loan alleviates temporary cash flow problems for students who are expecting to receive a payment from a scholarship or loan in the near future. The maximum loan amount is $1000 and is interest-free until the mutually agreed upon repayment date.
